Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillators for Space Applications

Rakon India (RI) has launched the RVX2213S; a space grade VCXO offering an extremely high pulling ability of ±375 ppm and a low frequency of 32 kHz. In comparison, the majority of space VCXOs available in the market have a pulling range of ±100 ppm. The RVX2213S utilises a swept quartz crystal resonator as its core, guaranteeing the space VCXO to deliver a stable frequency over its lifetime – including within the harshest of radiation environments.

With a conventional 14-pin DIL, the RVX2213S is designed specifically for space transmitter and receiver models. The open blank structure design enables the crystal and oscillator to share one cover, significantly reducing the product model’s package size to just 22 x 13 x 4.8 mm. Typically comparable space VCXOs come with a 24-pin DDIP in a bigger package size of 35 x 20 x 10 mm.

The RVX2213S is 100% screened and meets MIL-PRF-55310 Level ‘S’ standard. With less pins, a smaller package size and lower mass, The RVX2213S is suitable for a wide range of space applications. It is an optimised size and weight, VCXO solution.
