Pendulum Instruments, the global expert in time & frequency measurement, analysis, and calibration acquired Detectus AB, experts in EMC scanning devices for pre-compliance testing. The company is based in Malung, Sweden, and sells its products to large electronics companies all over the world.
The Detectus product line measures the electromagnetic emission, immunity, and heat, of components, boards, cables, and products over a wide bandwidth. Emphasize is put on ease-of-use, so that any engineer, not only EMC experts, can make comparative measurements.
The products are targeted for early detection of EMC hot spots in the product development phase, so that potential problems can be remedied easier and with lower cost, than in the final product. Scanning can be made in 2D, 3D or even 4D (3D plus rotation of field probe). Options include e.g. IR heat sensor, an inspection camera, and immunity measurement SW.
The scanners are sold to various electronic manufacturing companies, both small and very large.
“We are very happy to be acquired by Pendulum Instruments, where we see that we can benefit from their vast global distribution network, their efficient production targeted to advanced electronics niche products in small-to-medium series, and their competence in global marketing and sales to the electronic R&D community”, says Jan Eriksson, CEO of Detectus.
“The new product portfolio from Detectus has a great customer synergy in our sales channels. We have now a broader portfolio to offer our R&D customers via our global distribution network. I am also very pleased that key personnel from Detectus will continue to work with us also in the future with new product development”, says Harald Kruger, Global Sales Director of Pendulum Instruments.
