Drone Show Festival in Gijón: Four Shows with 300 Drones Each from Drone Show Competition Participants

will host a new edition of the Drone Show Festival this Friday and Saturday. The only international event that schedules drone shows in various cities, the festival celebrates the participants and winners of the fourth Drone Show Competition from SPH Engineering. The proposal, part of the Sky Festival program, will offer four different shows this weekend, each featuring three hundred drones performed by national and international companies. The Gijón event, part of a growing global trend towards drone-based entertainment, is organized by the Spanish company Flock Drone Art with the support and funding of the Gijón City Council. The Poniente beach will host the exhibitions on both days at 10:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m.

Gijón, Spain – One of the main novelties of this third edition is the number of drones participating in the four scheduled shows. In total, three hundred drones will jointly fly over the skies of Gijón, an increase of one hundred drones compared to the shows scheduled last year. This drone increase will enhance the spectacularity and beauty of the four program proposals.

The festival will kick off on Friday, July 19, with the show Geometrics 300 by the organizing company Flock Drone Art, which proposes this choreography of light in a mystical dance of abstract shapes and figures. Accompanied by a custom-composed soundtrack, Geometrics 300 is an unprecedented version of this Catalan company’s most successful show, which will be seen for the first time in Gijón. Next, Hidrone, a leading company in Southeast Asia, presents its show Dance of the Sea – Discover Vietnam, which creates mesmerizing images of marine life and iconic representations of Vietnamese culture. From seahorses and dolphins to the miniature landscape of Ha Long Bay and the traditional Ao Dai, the show brings us closer to the beauty of Vietnam and the charming music of Hello Vietnam. The show Odyssey by Flock Drone Art will open the Saturday session. Another premiere of this edition with a new concept of drone show. It is a story with cinematic airs that proposes a journey into space with special light and sound effects, and as always, to the rhythm of its soundtrack. The festival will close with the proposal Above the Sea by Nacho Cruje, who presents a show with a choreography inspired by the sea. Undulations and flashes evoke the marine essence, merging with advanced technology to create a unique visual experience. It is an ethereal show that celebrates the mystery of the ocean and our deep connection with it.

As every year, Poniente Beach will be the best location to contemplate the drone swarm’s flight on Friday and Saturday nights. The festival, which has held its first editions in Gijón and Lloret de Mar, is about to finalize agreements with other Spanish and European cities to expand its venues. Thanks to the appeal of these shows, the Drone Show Festival aims to become the world’s leading event in the sector.

Its organizing company, Flock Drone Art, is part of the Global Drone Show Community of drone show producers and actively collaborates with the International Drone Show Competition, organized by SPH Engineering, which has developed the Drone Show Software, the leading software for controlling fleets of drones that have revolutionized the industry. Some shows that won in the International Drone Show Competition 2023 are now part of the Drone Show Festival program.

“We are delighted that the Drone Show Festival is a prestigious award for the winners in the animation category of the Drone Show Competition. Over the past two years, this collaboration has profoundly impacted the industry, fostering creativity, innovation, and drive to exceed boundaries among providers,” states Alexander Levandovskiy, Head of Drone Show Technologies at SPH Engineering.
