Carbice Partners with SWISSto12 to Advance Next-Generation Satellites

Collaboration accelerates the deployment of SWISSto12's small GEO satellites, HummingSat, and expands access to geostationary orbit.

Carbice, a pioneer in high-performance thermal management solutions for next-generation platforms, announced SWISSto12, a leading Swiss satellite manufacturer, will integrate the Carbice Space Pad into its HummingSat platform. This compact, next-generation satellite redefines affordability, performance, and scalability for the space industry.

As satellites grow more powerful yet smaller in size, the challenge of managing heat — especially in harsh orbital environments — becomes mission-critical. The Carbice Space Pad provides a sustainable, proven solution to effectively dissipate heat across space applications, including Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) missions like HummingSat. With highly compact microelectronics integrated into the platform, HummingSat’s ability to reliably manage increased thermal loads is critical for mission success.

“We are delighted to partner with Carbice to strengthen our supply chain for our innovative HummingSat,” said Paolo Mori, Space Procurement Specialist at SWISSto12. “Strong collaborations are key to success in the challenging space environment, and we look forward to this journey together.”

HummingSat offers a longer lifespan at a fraction of the cost and mass of traditional GEO satellites. Its smaller footprint and lower launch cost allow global satellite service providers to expand their communication services, including broadcast, broadband, mobility, and government applications.

“Our partnership with SWISSto12 supports an entirely new class of geostationary satellites,” said Rafael Spears, General Manager, Global Aerospace and Defense at Carbice. “Our Space Pad will provide manufacturability flexibility, enabling ease of integration and assembly needed to scale next-generation satellite programs like HummingSat efficiently and reliably.”

Carbice has a growing presence in the aerospace and defense sectors, with its thermal interface solutions used in many LEO and GEO satellites and emerging constellations. Its solutions are favored for their reusability, predictable performance, and support of rapid assembly integration and testing, resulting in significant manufacturing time and cost savings.
