MatrixSpace Provides Enhanced Airspace Awareness for Operation FlyTrap 5.0 May 1-15, 2026

Operation FlyTrap 5.0 – MatrixSpace is supporting the FlyTrap 5.0 training exercise (May 1-15, 2026) with its sensor providing rapidly deployable airspace awareness after winning the xTechCounter Strike competition in Operation Flytrap 4.5 in November 2025.

Project Flytrap 5.0 is a major U.S. Army-led counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) exercise scheduled for May 1–15, 2026, in Lithuania. This initiative brings together US and UK forces to test and validate new, low-cost, and portable drone detection and defeat technologies, designed to counter rapidly evolving threats on the battlefield.

Media are invited to observe Flytrap 5.0 counter-drone experimentation exercise in Pabrade, Lithuania, May 1-11 and May 15

May 15, 2026 – Exclusive media day at Pabrade Training Area, Lithuania.

Flytrap 5.0 will feature a Force-on-Force exercise between US and UK forces 04-08 May and a Live Fire Exercise 09-10 May.

Enhancing M-SHORAD CUAS Capabilities

The Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD), designated as the “SGT Stout,” is a U.S. Army system designed to protect maneuvering forces from unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), rotary-wing, and fixed-wing threats. But today’s fight is increasingly dominated by low-altitude, small UAS that are hard to detect and even harder to track.

These threats operate in the clutter—RF-silent FPVs, loitering munitions, and pop-up drones that compress engagement timelines and often evade traditional sensors.

MatrixSpace fills that gap. Our portable radar system and AI Software platform provide scalable counter drone protection for teams in complex environments. No-one else is doing this.

We provide ultra-portable radar systems that extend detection forward with maneuver elements—aligned to how M-SHORAD fights. Our expeditionary kits are man-portable and operational in under 10 minutes, enabling distributed sensing that moves with the force, not behind it.

This creates a forward sensing layer that feeds M-SHORAD platforms earlier, increasing engagement time and improving kill chain effectiveness.

At the edge, our AiEdge processing delivers real-time detection, classification, and tracking locally, even in EW-contested or comms-denied environments—ensuring the system remains effective when it matters most.

At higher echelons, AiCloud fuses these sensors into a common operating picture, integrating via open APIs into existing Army C2 and air defense networks, supporting rapid sensor-to-shooter cueing.

For fixed or semi-fixed positions, our 360-degree radar systems provide rapid-deploy coverage for key assets, while still maintaining the mobility required for survivability.

Bottom line:

MatrixSpace enhances M-SHORAD by providing a distributed, mobile sensing layer that sees low-altitude threats earlier, survives in contested environments, and extends the reach and reaction time of the shooter

We don’t replace M-SHORAD—we make it more lethal, more survivable, and faster in the fight.

MatrixSpace is transforming low airspace awareness with AI-powered sensing and edge-to-cloud intelligence that enables organizations to detect, track, and identify airborne objects in real time. Its portable radar systems and AI Software platform provide scalable counter drone protection for public safety, defense, and infrastructure security teams in complex environments.
