The Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG) has announced its Middle Eastern Workshop which will be hosted by Arabsat. The workshop will take place on 12 May, 2025 at the Fairmont Hotel, Dubai and will facilitate technical discussions between operators, manufacturers, and vendors.

SIG promotes cooperation among industry stakeholders to propel innovation and maximise the potential of satcom. The agenda reflects the significant advancements being witnessed in satcom, with panels and discussions set to take place regarding themes such as the new space environment, RF interference, DIFI, and the evolution of ground satcom.

Established in 1976, Arabsat is an initiative launched by 21 Arab countries and is wholly owned by the Arab League. With a fleet of 8 satellites Arabsat provides full spectrum TV and radio broadcast, telecommunications, broadband, advanced data transmission network solutions, and a range of satellite ecosystem services for entities in the MENA region.

Helen Weedon, SIG Managing Director, commented: “The satcom industry is transforming rapidly and SIG workshops provide an opportunity for technical industry professionals to meet and discuss the operational challenges being caused by this. With each region facing its own iteration of challenges as a result of the quickly evolving landscape, we have partnered with Arabsat to enable further discussions within the region. We look forward to addressing the challenges facing MENA through collaborative debates and insightful panels.”

Yasir Hassan, Director, Transmission Operations at Arabsat and SIG Board Member, said: “The latest advances in satcom demonstrate how quickly the industry is evolving, and Arabsat is proud to be at the forefront of innovation.
