Space Data Association Opens Nominations for Space Safety Award

The Space Data Association (SDA) has announced its call for nominations for the 2022 T.S. Kelso Award for Space Safety.

The SDA gives this award to celebrate and acknowledge substantial, innovative, long-term, and practical original contributions to the advancement of space safety, and the preservation of the space environment in one or more of the following space disciplines: operations, applied research, technology, law, or policy.

Named for and on behalf of its inaugural recipient, Dr T.S. Kelso, the award is presented annually by the SDA as a recognition of outstanding contributions to space flight safety of an individual or, if shared, multiple individuals, teams, and organisations.

Pascal Wauthier, Chairman, the Space Data Association, commented: “We are pleased to open the nominations for the second T.S. Kelso Award for Space Safety. The industry is full of innovation and outstanding contributions, and this award recognizes those who are truly making a difference to safer operational practices. We look forward to receiving nominations which highlight the dedication and enthusiasm for flight safety.”

Nominations can be made to the Space Data Association Ltd., along with a description of the contribution(s) made by the nominee(s) and rationale for the award. The winner will be announced at this years’ SDA Members Meeting on 14th June 2022.
